An Assessment is the process of documenting, usually in measurable terms, knowledge, skills, attitudes and beliefs. Therefore in healthcare an assessment can take many forms.

The archetype definition enables an unlimited number of individual archetypes to be brought togther into an assessment using the concept of Contains. In this way Respiration, Pulse, Blood Pressure - Complete and Temperature can be collated together into a single assessment called Vital Signs.

There is no limit to the number of times that an individual archetype can be re-used in different assessments. For example, Blood Pressure - Complete can be used separately or as part of Vital Signs, Diabetes Assessment or many other assessment; however, it only needs to be defined once as an archetype itself.
